There is an interesting Fox on Gunbroker. It is a BE grade with barrels clearly marked Model 1910 on the barrels. Kind of a mixed bag. Wasn't the 1910 Model the designation A H Fox used for the early Sterlingworth guns to pretend they were a separate company? If so how did a set of 1910 barrels near up on a BE graded gun. Also it has a single trigger and ejectors which I find interesting. That's a lot of options for a B grade more like what I'd expect to see on a C grade. Be nice to have the gun in hand and try to figure out what was original, what was done later and whose trigger it has and is it original to the gun or an later addition.

Might be nice to pull he card if on exist to see what the production card says the gun was when made. Might have had a set of 30" barrels with double triggers but I don't think so. It could have been sent back to the factory to have the shorter barrels fit and single trigger added later but 1910 marked barrels are no too common. I think it was a rush order and they pulled the barrels pulled off a 1910 and used on a B grade. The B grade fits into the 1910 date it was made and the 1910 was being made at the same time. So I think that's what happened. They needed a set of 26" barrels and pulled them off a gun in stock. The card might tell or it's just another go figure gun.

I had a Sterlingworth Pin Gun and it was a Model 1911 (serial number 5578x)

Should be a pin gun if it's 1910, shouldn't it?

Long ago, Bill Headrick told me, that at the time the A.H. Fox Gun Co. added the Sterlingworth to their "Campfire" catalog (1911) and began calling it the Model 1911, they for a short period of time marked graded 12-gauge guns Model 1910. Also, the "small-bore booklet", probably produced for the introduction of the 16- and 20-gauge Fox shotguns at the A.H. Fox Gun Co. tent at the 1911 Grand American Handicap, calls the small-bores Model 1912. I've never seen a small-bore marked Model 1912, and I've seen some pretty early ones. This is the first gun I've seen marked Model 1910.

Why isn't it marked Model 1910 on the forearm iron like the Sterlingworths? Hmmm.....

My guess is that the gun was returned to the factory at a later date for some upgrades. Maybe the sst or the ejectors. And the factory marked the "model 1910 on the barrels in order to ID it as to what it is in the shop.

It looks to me like the frame was originally fitted with pre-fox style ejectors. But the forend looks all fox.
