I am going down for about a week to see some family in MD. I will be in the Eastern Shore area, all the way down to La Platta. Anyone have any good gunshops to visit?

Thanks

Alex

LaPlata is a long way from the Eastern Shore. LaPlata and the Eastern Shore are separated by a body of water called the Chesapeake Bay. One bridge, impassable in summer, and it's a long way from LaPlata. Try to make it to the Vintagers in September. No gun shop on the Shore worth the trip from "The Western Shore". Bill Murphy

How about some Crab House recommendations for our New Englander?

Storms, if you're already familiar with the Maryland shore style crab-house this isn't news but if not, it's pretty special; family style at picnic tables with buckets of crabs, pitchers of beer, crab hammers, and rolls of paper towels. Add shellfish as needed.

I know they are a long ways apart, nonetheless, I will be making that trip. One of my uncles has a Farm on the eastern shore, and I will be there for a few days, going out for some tuna fishing. Then we are going down to La Platta for our annual Crab Feast on another one fo my uncles farms.

I have a big family so its usually about 100 people at the crab feast. 5 bushels of crabs, hotdogs hamburgers and plenty of beer. My uncles farm is incredible. Its about 470 acres on the Potomac river. 300 ft dock and a seperate house for his taxidermy mounts. I will try to get some pics of the place and his guns. I know many of the gun stores are aimed for the hunter.

Hey Storm - Eightbore and I can't help you on the gun shop, but we can sure help you with those bushels of crabs :-)

Sounds like a wonderful Maryland summer trip...the corn on the eastern shore is now sweet as sugar...make sure they boil or grill up some ears of Maryland's best.

Cheers

Stephen

There is always plenty of corn too! It is always a fun trip. The little kids get a kick out of driving around the farm on the 6 wheel Gators.

If I were in your situation, I would be looking for employment somewhere near your relatives' homes. Sounds like a great vacation. Chantilly, VA gun show the end of July if you're still in the area. National Firearms Museum is five minutes from the show, free admission, open every day. Prince Georges County Skeet and Trap is on the southeast end of the D.C. Beltway, Interstate Route 495-95, 14 trap and skeet ranges, about 50 sporting clays stations, open every day, to the public. What town on the shore is your uncle located in?

Murph, I know you wouldn't deliberately steer ol' Alex astray, but Albrights in Easton always has a half dozen SXS's of one variety or another on the the rack. I was there last month and almost bit on a realy nice Francotte 12. If it had been a 16, I would own it now. Don't suppose you are stalking one (maybe the FOx B?). Good simple folk Alex, and fair prices if you do your part. Have a grand trip.
