If you plan to keep the gun and USE it, glas the head. If flipping it is in the future then cracks etc can be someone else's problem. A glas'd but uncracked head would speak to me of a caring forward thinking conservator. Bazillions of rifles are glas'd with nary a crack ro warrant. Nobody cares.
JMO of course

As far as Vintage Guns, these types of both repairs and preventative actions like action sealing and bedding are fairly common. Especially if the gun is being shot. What else is there to deal with 100 year plus old wood that has shrunken or been weakened due to oil soaking? Really, the only other alternative is retirement to Wall Hanger status.

I prefer wood to plastic, leather to nylon, waxed cotton to Gore-Tex, and split bamboo to graphite.
