Wow! I am getting more and more excited about this with the info I'm getting here. I want to be able to tell my son more about this when I pass it down to him. I did read about the proof marks and such in regard to 1893 to 1939. I assumed before 1907 based on the 20 207 numbers.

Lay a measuring tape in mm if possible along side the chamber cast & measure the base diameter as well as the dimension to the neck.

Not sure if these help, I don't have a set of calipers here but do at work.

No worries. While you are @ it acquire another dimension just forward of the base.

Raimey,
That is the definition of guage.

More precise measurement of the head and rim diameters are necessary, than is possible with a scale. The chambercast, itself, shows more of a necked case, than was visible on the photo of the chamber. Also, the rim recess seems deeper than if it were for an LK or "Drilling" case. Subject to better measurements, it may be based on the 43 Mauser case after all. It will be necessary to measure diameters with either a micrometer or caliper( Vernier, dial, or electronic). Don't forget the barrel groove diameter.

So Ford, point me to the chart that has 69/49?

Forgive any minor off measurements, I only have a set of digital vernier from Harbor Freight.
