I have a Derby and a Regent, both imported by American Arms. Look identical, the Derby is from 1993 and the Regent is from 1983 The Derby has a single trigger non selective, ejectors, cocking indicators, intercepting sears, straight stock, gas ports, 26" barrels with 3" chambers and checkered butts.
The Regent has the same configuration, except has the Churchill 25" barrels and rib. This gun has double triggers and a nice piece of oil finished wood.
These are made by Zabala.
Both are a 6 pin lock, one being a dummy pin. Both have coil mainsprings and both have coin finish receiver with roll stamped engraving. The one pictured looks to be hand engraved and is a lot higher grade than the ones below, but still not worth nearly that much. I paid under $400 for each from Cabela's also but in PA.

The one on the bottom, the barrels are 27 1/2". They are still available from Numrich, they are not proved and take quite some time to fit.

"IF" it's a true sidelock the seller doesn't know what they have.
Copied & pasted directly from the listing "Removable Side Plates for a Sidelock appearance". That description fits a plated Box Lock, of course it could be wrong.

A Grulla No. 2 would likely be worth at least twice the price of a Derby, but still well short of $7K.

Come to think of it, I've never seen a Derby with a take down lever, it could very well be a Grulla. Derbys also had 25" or 26" bbls, I can't remember seeing one with 28" bbls. With American Arms, who knows what they imported and what configurations for that matter. I very well may have misspoken on the Model. Still as you said, 7k sure is a lot for this piece.

Best,

Greg

Just went up and looked at my Grulla #2 .410. The checkering on the forend is a different pattern. Mine has a rounded right edge trigger guard and higher % of engraving on the TG. "NO 2" engraved on both lock plates. The comb has a deeper flute as well.

Probably doesn't mean much but something to compare to. Haven't had it out in a couple of months. Forgot how nice it was. Has an articulated front trigger as well.

7K?? I'd sell mine for 4k and pay the shipping! smile

I agree that it's not a Derby. There are several dissimilarities: the engraving pattern, the shape of the toplever, the gun's total weight, etc.

American Arms imported side by side, side lock, Spanish shotguns they sold under the model name “Derby” from at least two different makers; Zabala Hermanos (ZH) and DIARM S.A. The ZH guns were so marked on barrel flats and water table. The DIARM guns were marked “Sarriugarte” on the top of the barrels and had the maker’s mark of Armas ERBI (usually “BEST”) on barrel flats and water table.

American Arms imported the DIARM guns first, and switched to the ZH guns when DIARM went out of business. The DIARM guns have a distinctive engraving pattern. The ZH guns had coil mainsprings and a distinctive arrangement of pins visible on the exterior of the locks. The ZH side plate “engraving” is roll marked, like that of the AyA # 2.

Here are examples of each from guns on Guns International:
