Samuel Johnson working on barrels. Samuel was one of nine children and the son of Thomas Johnson. It is believed that Thomas moved to London to join Holland and Holland in about 1893, possibly having been recruited by Thomas Woodward the manager of Hollands new factory in London. Samuel was born in 1883 and also worked for Holland and Holland until he had to go to the dentist to have a tooth removed (the dentist broke his jaw) and he was fired for taking time off work! Samuel then returned to Birmingham's gun quarter to establish his own business on Vesey Street.

A Norman Johnson miniature gun next to a Thomas Johnson 12 bore bar in wood left handed hammer gun.

One of the miniatures in my hand with a fifty pence piece next to it.

Miniature double percussion muzzle loader showing the makers name on the top rib with a fifty pence piece. Could these be the smallest hand made damascus barrels in the world?

Paul is sending more pics of the engraving.

I can't believe that. That is so cool! I can't imagine how much work that took. Who owns this? Just great!

The gun belongs to my familly there is a set of four, a single and double percussion, and a single and double flint, I will sort out a mixture of pics of all of them and some more info it is hard to photo them because of there size!My 87 year old grandmother who also used to work on the barrels took them into sothebys to get them valued they said they were worth around £100!!!! I took them to the london arms fair 4 years ago and a dealer valued them at £30,000 upwards. there is work still to be done on them and I am keen to make them a miniature guncase and accessories.
