RECENTLY CAME UPON A POST REMINGTON ERA PARKER VHE 20 GAUGE WITH BLUED RECEIVER. FOLLOWING IS BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
VERY LATE SERIAL #2423XX. REMINGTON BARREL DATE CODE BL, INDICATES JANUARY 1942 PRODUCTION...A HELLAVA TIME TO BE MAKING SHOTGUNS! A COUPLE OF NON STANDARD FEATURES...FIRST THERE ARE NO ROLL STAMPS ON THE TOP RIB...SECOND THE RECEIVER AND FOREND IRON ARE BLUED, WITH NO EVIDENCE OF THERE EVER BEING ANY CYANIDE CASE COLORING...COULD THIS BE THE LAST 20 GAUGE VHE?
HAS ANYONE ELSE HERE SEEN A LATE PARKER WITH BLUED RECEIVER?
keep it simple and keep it safe...

bobby: 241xxx numbered guns are the last of the remington era guns, made prior to 1938 when remington ceased regular production of parker brand guns...one would expect to see those with cyanide case colors...thanks for input...ed

my current guess is that this gun is perhaps a product of remington's custom shop, larry delgrego sr. or lefever arms of lee center, ny...all of which are known to have assembled parker brand guns from parts left over from remington's regular factory production...

Seen plenty. 99.9% of them are not original. Only ever seen a couple that was. And they were prototypes.
I guess that is now $30 that you owe dave? Or maybe not since it is only if an item sells?
Why not just post in the for sale section? Since that is clearly what is attempted to be done. Or are you allowed to still post guns for sale in that section?

dudley: gun is not for sale on this web site...
i am seeking info here only...
normally, i would agree with you, that a parker with a blued receiver is not original...however, very late serial number, sharpness of unusual receiver stamps and lack of evidence of cyanide case colors on receiver and forend iron makes me wonder...

Damn right-you ain't just a whistlin' Dixie here either. Old Ed just don't never know when to quit trying to schlep his bogus goods here-under the guise of asking "questions?"" Go home, Ed, and stay there where you can play with your Victor-NCG-Rego "flammenwerferen"!!!

At one time I owned #242266, 20ga GHE Parker SST, it was Skeet in and out but had a splinter forend. It looked original to me, who really knows what happened then.
I learn something every day, and a lot of times it's that what I learned the day before was wrong
