My wholesalers just warned me that there will be a shortage of 223 Remington Ammo. Also there is a shortage of primers, don't know how long it will last. Just thought I would let you fellows know what is going on. I guess Winchester is making boatloads of ammo for the government.

.223 and 7.62x39 have both risen in price due to military/govt. demand but you can find it (at a higher price) if you look.
So far I haven't had any trouble finding primers, but prices are higher.
Metals prices are driving ammo higher also.

Regards M.L. Well the cats out of the bag now. Did anybody happen to mention there's a war on?

Production is ramping up for war supplies and us lowly civilians. But as long as the Chinese and others are buying up metals as fast as they can be mined, prices will not drop back to earlier levels.

May just be a rumor, but I was told by a friend that our government has bought up a lot of the surplus SKS rifles, as well as ammo to ship to Iraq.

In my neck of the woods, large and small rifle match primers cannot be found. I have enough loaded ammo to get me through the hi-power season, but I hope things improve soon as all reloading has stopped.

We don't use 7.62 X 39 but the Iraq's do and we are arming them with AK 47's plus all the ammo they can shoot. I don't think we should provide all their ammo.
