Beretta 391 piston bushing snap ring. Beretta part #58968.
Anyone know the generic replacement for this?
Wouldn't mind the 2 bucks Cole's wants, but it's the twelve bucks to ship it that has me looking for a hardware store snap ring - certainly this isn't unique to a Beretta shotgun...
Probably some kind of metric size though...

My best suggestion would be to measure it and head for your Ace Hardware store. Even if it's a metric size a good bolt and bearing store should be cheaper than $12 for shipping. You might also have some luck talking to someone in charge, with some common sense, about shipping one in an envelope for first class postage of $.41.

I would try "bolt & washer cabinet" at Home Depot, Lowe's ,....In Buffalo NY we actually had Sears tool only store that had all type of nuts, bolts, washers,.... If you don't find it in ONE place it seems cheaper to order one in terms of time spent.

I asked to have one shipped in a regular letter envelop and was told it cost the same to "ship" that way. I agree that 12 bucks for the price of a stamp is not too customer friendly. I bought one at ACE instead.

Where I live you'd burn 12 bucks worth of gas driving around looking for it.

Most Auto Repair shops carry a range of snap rings, in your part of the world they might be SAE, Beretta will be metric, try someone specialising in European imports.

Go to http://www.mcmaster.com/enter Snap Rings into the search. You'll have a pretty good selection.

Good ideas guys, thanks. This is just a RCH short of being a 1/2" snap ring. Maybe 12mm.
Plan to stop at NAPA next time I go by...

Jonesy, I agree with CParker, it's not worth screwing around trying to find. Soften the blow of the shipping charge and put together a larger list of items from Coles. You might ask for a "crash kit" of parts that commonly fail.

Yeti: Thanks for the tip. This appears to be a snap ring for a 12mm shaft, 1mm thick. I've ordered from your source a pack of 100. $11.59 total, shipped. $2.44 less than the cost of one from Cole's.
I don't begrudge anyone an honest profit, I just don't want them stealing from me.
