There is seven Hollenbecks and three Royals with pictures currently for sale at Cherry's...has anyone ever owned a Hollenbeck and Baltimore Arms at the same time, and compared the two for common denominators? I'll bet there is more similarties than we suspect.

The West Virginia Hollenbecks share the bolting patent with the Baltimore Arms Co. guns. The cocking system, in the Hollenbeck signature 5/8 inch wide barrel lug, is very different in the Baltimore and the West Virginia guns. Frank's patent for the lock mechanism, including this cocking feature, used in West Virginia, wasn't granted until the Hollenbeck Gun Co. was belly up, but I've never seen it stamped on any Hollenbeck/Three-Barrel/Royal Gun Co. guns.

Cherry's also have twelve Three-Barrel Gun Co. drillings on there list. Looked like every one has "issues" to my eye.

I was looking at Cherry's, and thats what got me interested in the Hollenbecks. They seem like nice, well made guns for the money.

Rabbit,

That looks like about the best of the lot. The wood and the checkering pattern look a grade or two higher then the metal, which is the lowest grade.

Wish I'd have had access to all these guns when I wrote my articles for The Double Gun Journal.

Dave
