August 1915 "Baseball Magazine"
http://library.la84.org/SportsLibrary/BBM/1915/bbm154aa.pdf

Philadelphia, Pa.
On the Monday following the ceremonies at Shibe Park, Cobb visited the Fox factory and personally consulted the various department heads about every detail, even the wood for the stock. Experts measured the Tiger player and had him pass on every detail of the construction and finish of the gun.
The famous ball player was frankly pleased when he had given the final instructions and knew that the gun would be ideal in every respect, but the real Ty Cobb showed in the expression on his face and the look in his eyes when the gunmakers told him that they had been ordered to inlay a plate in the stock with the inscription: "Presented to Ty Cobb by his Philadelphia friends."

“Trapshooting – The Sport Alluring”
http://library.la84.org/SportsLibrary/BBM/1915/bbm144af.pdf

Trapshooting knows no caste, and refuses to recognize social distinction—it accepts a man as a man. His success or failure at the sport is entirely in his own hands. The game appeals to all ages and conditions of men, and is one of the few sports in which both sexes meet on equal terms.
That trapshooting has elements which attract men who breathe and live sport is evident by its naming among its enthusiastic followers such men as Honus Wagner of the Pittsburgh National League team; Mathewson, the idol of New York fandom; “Big Chief” Bender, the Indian twirler of the world's championship Athletics, and Collins, their “star” player; also Ty Cobb of the Detroits, and many other baseball celebrities. Lester German forsook the New York Nationals to become a professional “player” in the “sport alluring.”

I can't help noticing that both of those advertisements Researcher posted tout the advantages of an "extremely short water table". So is the term "water table" incorrect terminology when one of the major players in the American Gun trade was using it? Or can we agree that it is simply a very acceptable alternative to action flats?

What I question is how an extremely short water table would make the action work any easier, or how it would be advantageous from a strength standpoint, even though strength was not mentioned.

A true sign of mental illness is any gun owner who would vote for an Anti-Gunner like Joe Biden.
