Hmmm, same as a regular set of 7mm Mauser dies with a different
shell holder.

Brass can easily be made from 444 Marlin brass.

Mike

P.S. have your tried the 158 grain ammo?

and the 173 grain ammo?

In my opinion 444 Marlin cases are not the best to use, even though they will work. They are simi-rimmed rather than rimmed. The small rim can slip behind the extractor, especially if (re)loading while watching a deer. If you can't find 7x57R, it is better to use 8x57R.

Having some 9 X 57R brass made from 444 Marlin I have to agree with Der Ami. The rims of mine have never slipped behind the extractor but they were a pain in the tail to get fireformed so they would headspace on the shoulder. In my drilling the 444 Marlin rims were a bit too thin and sat too deep for the firing pin to reach the primer.

As I read the responses from Der Ami and sharps4590
I just had to sit here and grin smile

They are totally correct, I am just amazed that we are in the
golden age of rare brass. I remember in days of old how we
had to find unique methods to make 40-82, 8x57R, 30 Mauser, and so on and so on.

We are indeed blessed

Thank you gentlemen

Mike

Amen Sir.

About a quarter of what I load I hadn't even heard of as little as 10 years ago. Now, part of that was my own ignorance but indeed, we have been blessed.

S&B and Privi Partisan import 7x57R and it is very accurate ammo and a good source for brass, usually under $20/20.

100 yards.
