The trade label in my Ferlib case is coming loose. The case is a Brady case with felt lining. What glue would you recommend to reattach the label without making a mess or creating a problem in the future?

Thanks.

I use ELMERS glue. If you get to much and runs over on felt you can clean up with water.

Use what the professionals use, use 3M™ Super 77™ Multipurpose Spray Adhesive.

Seems to me some of the school glue supplied with a roller head would work very well and not make a mess with runs, etc.

I like double back tape. It will hold and release if you wish to remove label.

If your case is an older “Brady Case” the internal covering will be Baize not felt. Now the traditional glue used to fix trade labels is pearl or rabbit skin glue for a couple of good reasons firstly they do not travel through the paper when cold/dry causing staining over time, instant fix because they are used hot and secondly they can be reversed with steam or hot water and the glues age is no limit to when this can be done. Though a more complicated removal if it is a leather trade label and finally they have stood the test of time that is why they are still available and used today.
What professionals use in many cases I have found is chosen for what good for them be it financial or expediency!

Jim a simple question but hard to give a true definite answer. If it is a Brit vintage case the glue used will be pearl or rabbit skin glue, and a wallpaper steamer will be the ideal tool for the job or next best covering the label with a warm and wet cloth though this will need more than one application. Animal types of glue was used on some American cases but also casein types of glue where used and more difficult but not impossible to remove a label with steam/water. But moving up to more recent times PVA glues became more common in use and some of them are water resistant and in consequence practically impossible to remove a paper label in an undamaged condition.

I totally understand the temptation of using Gunman and other's advice to use modern glues but I would strongly advise you to follow Damascus's advice.
Generally, once you use a non reversible PVA glue like Copydex, you will destroy or at least damage the label if it ever needs to be removed.
It breaks my heart when I find a very sad old case with a good label and discover it is virtually un-removable because someone has taken a short cut and used PVA or equivalent.
Likewise with alterations and repairs to the internals of cases.
I sympathise with the urge to grab a modern glue but I wish people wouldn't! They have their place is structural repair of stocks etc (maybe not PVA but epoxy and cyanoacrylate work miracles) but should be kept out of antique guncases other than is an emergency.
Please.
