Jealousy??? What the hell would give you that idea? You brought your solvent soak method to the folks here, and I know it works because I have used that method. It's very good, but hardly perfect. Some of us brought alternate methods of oil removal to the attention of folks here, and you got your panties in a wad and felt you had to criticize and accuse us of being stupid enough to waste time straightening bent nails. I think that was where the irrational behavior began. Damascus, who mentioned the use of vacuum as a good non-chemical method, mentioned his reluctance to share information in the thread on the possible creation of a gunsmithing sub-forum because he knew there would be naysayers and simple minded critics like you shooting down viable and reasonable alternatives. What a dick!

Some things never change.

The constructive give and take for most of this thread displayed what this forum does best.

Keith, though name-calling is toxic to constructive discussion, there are times it just can't be helped.

Thanks Jay. I'm sure that most noticed, as you did, that any hint of constructive discussion went out the window when Mr. Perfect entered. All we needed was for Cherry Bomb to weigh in and we'd have had perfect idiot bookends.

The gunsmith who has restored several old and valuable guns for me uses acetone. The wood comes back looking new.
