Shape and weight (within reason) aren't as important as bullet size. Make it fit the throat of that Krag (.0005" undersize), get the hang of the trigger, squint your eyes just right, and you'll be eating for free.
Krag throat dimensions are all over the map. It's wise to measure same and size accordingly.
Perhaps a Lyman 17A in the ramp dovetail would solve the front sight height issue and provide the aperture that you like, Brent?

Gary, you know, the Lyman 17 isn't a bad idea. Why didn't I think of that? It might look a bit awkward, but I have an extra in my safe right now. Simple solution, at least for a while.
I think my bullets fit pretty well. The modern Lyman 311284 is considerably undersized but NOE is making larger bullets and I have found that the bore riding section is a snug fit to the bore while the driving bands are right or just a hair above groove diameter, after sizing with a gas check.

17A sounds like a good idea. The Lee Shaver versions of the 17A are somewhat better looking and also have a spirit level incorporated inside the sight body so it isn't too obtrusive.
Not many making ramp fromt sights these days. Everything seems to be for the black plastic rifles.

How high of a ramp do you need?
I've got a couple of those Williams Streamline Sight Ramps. They are N/O/S. They are both .550" tall measured on my cheapo caliper. That would be from the bbl surface to the top flat surface.
I think they are taller than what you have if the front curve of the base is any indication of heights. You can have one if you can use it,I'll send it to you. Let me know here. Jim

Jim, That is a very kind offer. I think it would do the job. My sight measure about 0.33 or a little more.
I'll send you a PM.
