No clue on the location of the signature, but that is one nice looking rifle. Again small details make an impact. Checkering of the safety caught my eye. Thaine

Steven, the best place to look is in the Cody collection of Kornbrath rubbings, photos, and drawings as well as Kornbrath brochures which may include this rifle.

Steven, I think Kornbrath seldom signed his work. Neither of the guns I owned had signatures though the work was clearly his. I don't think there's any disadvantage in this. Anyone interested in his work has probably learned to identify it on sight.

Steven, There are a few examples of Kornbrath's signature in Google images. What makes you believe the engraving is by Kornbrath? BTW, very nice rifle, very nice, must be a pleasure just to have it even if temporary.

It is a pleasure to have in the shop, and to offer for sale. thanks to your tip on google I found this. http://jamesdjulia.com/item/lot-1332-ver...ng-rifle-38785/Compare the bottom metal to photo above. That rifle sold at auction for $40,000+...

Rather unusual style of engraving, if Kornbrath .

Rather unusual style of engraving, if Kornbrath . I see nothing "unusual" about the style of engraving at all matter of fact it is very familiar in appearance to me. It is so similar to the link I posted I'm sure it was done by the same hand. But I guess I should have asked you first, Daryl. I'll ask Sam when I see him in LV.

Steven, the only engraving I can see in your photos is the floor plate. That style is more British than Kornbrath guns I have seen and owned. But, I have not seen them all. As a general rule with auction descriptions, one must consider that verifying is prudent. In the last year or so, auctions have presented shotguns whose estimates total in the high six figures, but we're found to be bogus in their descriptions. I am sure your comment about calling me for information was made in jest. But,feel free to do so if you desire.
I am in India for another month, so I am away from my files. Please do give my regards to Sam Welch in Vegas, and do publish his opinion. I am sorry to miss Vegas this year for the first time in several decades, but hope you have an enjoyable trip.

Sam is here but I don't claim to be a Kornbrath expert though he has been my engraving "hero" for nearly 50 (gulp) years now. I have seen a number of guns he engraved I would not have guessed were his work, based on photos in the Gun Engraving Review book so I never place any confidence in my own opinion of whether he engraved a piece or not.
That being said, I don't recall seeing that much English influence in his work.
Have you looked for hidden signature or initials?
Sam Welch
