my number two son, who hunts in the mountains of virginia also took a nice four pointer last week with a cross bow. it was a bright sunny day, just after noon. he was in a ground blind and shot the deer thru the lungs at about 10 yards. deer ran about 30 yards and then laid down and died peacefully...
now it would be really cool if someone came up with a sxs cross bow, eh what?

Crossbow weighs about 8 lbs with scope, quiver, sling and 4 bolts attached. I typically take the quiver off while in the stand (less moving frontal area when Bambi shows up). I find the crossbow much more challenging to hold while up a tree....horizontal limbs and muzzle heavy balance are weird compared to regular bow or rifle/shotgun. There are trigger upgrades available but no double trigger...and no double crossbow....maybe someday an over and under will be available.
Did I mention the bolt will fall out from nominal vibration if you carry muzzle down. Luckily when you step on expanding broadheads nothing tragic occurs....;-)

Not to take the fun out of this thread BUT it's not a double crossbow! Shouldn't this post be in the singles forum😉

Doesn't this topic belong in the Misfires Forum? What does it have to do with Fine Guns?

Rick is correct and yes it does. However he who owns the game makes the rules!! I'm thinking of starting a thread about Ernest Hemingeay hunting sharks in the waters off Cuba with a Thompson SMG but I guess I'll have to insist he was only using 45cal shotshells! Of course he usually only did this after a few rum & cokes! Jim

Everyone meet Rick. Rick is our newest Forum Policeman. 100% of his posts since April past have been concerned with what he considers misappropriate posting by others.

Well Stan: I think ones things for sure: He'd have made a lousy greeter at the Chicken Ranch in Reno NV! Jim

I apologize for the post on the main form. However, It's my toy and once a year during deer season I put my silly hunting story (or 2) online.
At least you guys all know I'm not an armchair sportsman. (We have plenty of those...;-)
Rifle season starts Saturday! Probability is high the next DOA deer will be posing with my Kreighoff Drilling, Merkel Double Rifle or Bernardelli SXS slug gun. Hopefully that will be sufficient to keep the die hard SXS community reasonably content with my activity.
As allways; I appreciate all the people who participate on the forum...without you there would be no point.

Dave: All kidding aside; Most of us are always ready to look at anyones hunting picture regardless of the hunting method. Congradulations on a successful hunt! Jim
