Our foe Syria is fighting IS. Our friend Turkey won't do anything to help our friends the Kurds who are fighting IS within its borders but not likely outside.

It is winnable if the West makes the terms as the US did with mission accomplished in Iraq. Foreign occupation, however, doesn't work. They wanted us out of there. Now they want us back with our air power in their particular faith's service and our boots on the ground because their soldiers won't fight for governance they don't believe in.
