It's not our war, Joe. Theirs has been going on for hundreds of years. Extremists who want it more are sweeping away the other religious tribes. Expensively trained Iraq army fled from IS. Our foe Syria is fighting IS. Our friend Turkey won't do anything to help our friends the Kurds who are fighting IS within its borders but not likely outside.

It is winnable if the West makes the terms as the US did with mission accomplished in Iraq. Foreign occupation, however, doesn't work. They wanted us out of there. Now they want us back with our air power in their particular faith's service and our boots on the ground because their soldiers won't fight for governance they don't believe in.

Neither will ours. They shouldn't be sent to die in a mediaeval rat's nest of corruption.

The US is leading, on the right track. IS will become manageable over time.

Not just two things, he shows quite a bit more. Politics as usual, because he wants to be seen as doing something, but the coalition of the thinkers would already note that it's more window dressing and not working. More important, while thousands of brave military folks and their families are receiving separation letters, he burdens a thin military budget even more for political pr points and will play into the same lib mantra that we are a war hungry nation that spends too much on the 'military'.

Why don't you think bo would listen to the left wing w.h.o. that says the flu has killed around three million in our worldwide village since bo has had the ability to make a difference. Maybe, the flu bug doesn't move the polls or fill the campaign war chests. Maybe the 'dire emergency' is the mid term elections. Maybe a leader might send medical teams instead of troops if the 'outbreak' was actually on his mind.

The cdc has shown they're an 'effective' political tool. Didn't that Dallas hospital implement an ebola plan just a day before they released a sick liberian national out into the community. How long did it take, note the lock step culture of cover up, the country to find out the travel itinerary of this recent traveler from liberia. Oh, did I mention he's visiting from liberia. Didn't the fbi get yet another recent 'no profile' reinforcement directive. Yup, he's an other than white patriot from the world wide village.

Really think the stupid idiots running things across the country can do a good job with anything ?

Suspected Ebola cases living in an apartment complex....what happens when it spreads through the apartment complex....Drone strike ?

The least our "terrorist in charge" could do is close our airports to the Ebola infected countries.

if you think any of these other countries really will feel loyalty or gratefullness to the US, you are sadly mistaken. In their view you are a friend only as long as they need you.

King,

it was indeed Obama's war to lose, perhaps you have missed Pannetta's (who is not a republican) AND the Joint chiefs of Staff recent disclosures.

President Obama's former defense secretary, Leon Panetta, says if the White House had listened to his advice on U.S. troop levels in Iraq, the country's security situation may not have unraveled.

"To this day, I believe that a small U.S. troop presence in Iraq could have effectively advised the Iraqi military on how to deal with al-Qaeda's resurgence and the sectarian violence that has engulfed the country,"

Should Leon Panetta have criticized Obama?
Can Iraq's military handle ISIS?
France: Young Jihadist joining ISIS The question is why...

"Those on our side viewed the White House as so eager to rid itself of Iraq that it was willing to withdraw rather than lock in arrangements that would preserve our influence and interests,"

He writes that his views were shared by other military commanders in the region and the Joint Chiefs of Staff but he believes that the Commander-in-Chief could have done more.

Officials there seemed content to endorse an agreement if State and Defense could reach one, but without the President's active advocacy, al-Maliki was allowed to slip away. The deal never materialized," writes Panetta.

As moderate independent I have a question. When one combines: poverty, ignorance, lack of opportunity and religion does type of religion make a difference?

This is a trick question right, you're not a moderate, are you.

But no, it doesn't make any difference. There was a family at our church that was moving out of town, and fifty-three percent of the folks in the congregation wanted them beheaded.

I think if you combine human and being, it doesn't matter one bit about your left wing talking point social issues. You do know the radical islamic state is very well funded and on a mission. Who are these poor, ignorant and aimless animals that you're thinking about.

Yup, latest 'word' from cdc spokesfolks, they are ramping up screening travelers that they have profiled from high risk nations....as they get off the plane in the US. Maybe they want to open a new border/industry, advertise that all sick folks who can scrape together plane fare will get treated on the house in the US.
