Larry - I had a 20 ga 2 1/2" chambered damascus Ithaca for about a year and finally sold it because I couldn't get the answer to your question. I've learned a little bit since then. Obviously, a 2 1/4 dr 3/4 oz. black powder load should be fine if the gun is in sound condition. Magtec solid brass shells available from Midway are the correct length and can be loaded with simple homemade tools. As for smokeless loads, I understand that pressures in the 6000 - 7000 psi range should be safe. I believe that RST makes low pressure 2 1/2 20 ga ammo. You might check out their website and/or give them a call. I have heard they will give you pressure info if you call them.. Good luck. Bill

The IMR website has loads in the 7000 PSI range with Federal hulls. This could be reduced farther by reducing payload.
