Weird problem with one of my Reilly .500 BPE double's jumped out of the blue. The right cock/trigger is of concern here. The rifle has both half-cock and full cock. But you can pull the right hammer to each "point and it just won't catch. The left hammer and trigger, no problem.

You can get the right hammer to behave by leaving the left hammer at either half-cock or full cock. Pushing the trigger forward helps this, but I don't know if that's just arbitrary. Also, opening it up with the Jones underlever and then closing (with both hammers held back of course)and there is no trouble as well, although this seems more like voodoo than an actual clue to the problem.

Anybody ever have a similar problem or an idea on what's going on here?

Krakow Kid,
This sounds like some interference between the sears, maybe due to shrinkage of the wood and consequently pulling the locks closer together. If you take it apart, you may be able to see marks where parts have been rubbing. On the other hand-maybe not.
Mike
