I went through this old thread and harvested some pics for another PictureTrail in order to archive different damascus patterns
http://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbt...=70&fpart=1

I would most appreciate any comments as to the accuracy of my captions as I am extremely NOT an expert

AND feel free to post any additions on this thread or e-mail by JPG attachment to revdoc2@cox.net

I'm trying to figure out if there is a difference between "Belgian Two Iron Crolle" and what is/was called "Horseshoe" damascus. I'm thinking it may have just been a Yankee-ism for the same pattern, but I too am far from an expert and would like to hear more. Thanks. TT

My (former) good buddy Dave M. saved Dr Gaddy's damascus example pics but failed to label them so I'm working on that now

OK-Dave's my friend again as I believe I have the damascus brls from Dr Gaddy's display board labeled correctly. LOTS of edifying discussion on this thread on the FAQ Forum http://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=6352&page=1#Post6352 some of which I added to the captions.
The pics are at the beginning of the PictureTrail. Please let me know if something doesn't look right. Remarkable similarity between what he called 'Star' and the 'Four Iron Crolle.'

Have received a good example of Hunter Arms 'Chain' damascus from JDW. Still seeking ultra close-up pics of what Hunter Arms called 'Very Fine' on No. 5 grades, and 'Finest Damascus' on the Monogram.

Have added Dr Gaddy's example of the production of Three Iron Crolle damascus at the beginning of the PictureTrail
http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery.fcgi?p=999&gid=16082038
Actually seeing the process makes the understanding thereof much easier.

Have now posted pics that I'm pretty confident show the 'Two Iron Crolle' and 'Three Iron Crolle' that L.C. Smith, Parker, and Lefever used (but with different names.) Now SOMEBODY out there has a C or B grade Parker or a Quality No. 4, A1, 5, Eagle or Crown L.C. Smith with damascus brls so I can document higher grade damascus. AND I still need a good LC 'Chain Damascus' pic. Please send a high resolution close-up by JPG attachment to revdoc2@cox.net and thanks!

Parker DH with 'Three Blade Damascus' (Parker's name for '3 Iron Crolle')

Greg: The pics on the PictureTrail ARE from Dr Gaddy's originals, which Dave M saved on his computer. And yes, please do e-mail revdoc2@cox.net by JPG attachment close-ups of your barrel and thanks!

Beautiful pic of Dale Edmonds refinished LC Smith 'Chain Damascus' barrels added

I was also able to confirm from the Remington Collectors site that Model 1894 A grades and 1900 KD grades used "Two Stripe" damascus (which Remington called 'Oxford')

I also issued a 'Call' on the LCSCA Forum for somebody at the 'Southern' this weekend to take detailed close-up pics of high grade damascus barrels for the PictureTrail-let's all pray for good weather
