Does anyone have any good starting loads using either 2 1/2" brass and plastic shells? My new rifle came with some Magtech brass loaded with 4756 that shoot very well. I am lucky enough to have lots of IMR and Hodgdon powders, but none of that. I also plan to experiment loading with 12 ga. sabots.

I'm afraid I can't help with actual loading data, but advise that if your rifle is chambered for brass cases, uou should continue to use them.Since paper/plastic shell case walls are thicker than brass, they require different size wads and maybe bullets.Mixing components often leads to disapointment.Since the 4756 load shoots well, remember it, so you can go back to it after you play a while.

Joel,
Cal Pappas's latest book about "British Bore Rifles" has some loads for the 12 bores in it.

Thanks Mike. I have your fellow Alaskan's book, but I would love to try some sabots in it. The brass loads were never shot in this rifle. The 4756 load was first tried in Win. AA plastic shells, so the previous owner never bothered to try the the brass shells. I have 11 ga wads for the brass, but since the bullets from the custom mold shoot well and were intended for plastic shells that looks like the right way to go. It just seems to me it would be fun to see if I can get it to shoot with sabots.

Thanks Mike,
If he's tried sabots in a 12 bore, I'd love to hear from him.
