Some are, They look just like a Nitro Special. The may have also sold some of the Western Arms Long Range. They also had their name on Stevens and Iver Johnsons.. MDC

Guns by Ithaca are WESTERN ARMS CORP.
Western Field was a name used by Montegomery Ward for their line of guns made by a number of manufacturers one of which was Ithaca's Nitro Special. I have one that's identical to my NS except for the shape of the safety button and the pattern on the lever end.

Larry Brown should be along shortly to confirm that a Miroku gun very similar to the Browning BSS/Chas Daly 500 was also sold by Ward's under the Western Field name.

Here I am, Replacement, and indeed Wards did sell Mirokus pretty much identical to their Charles Daly-marked sxs under the Western Field name. I've seen a few of those, although not as many as Dalys. Think it was towards the end of Wards being in the gun business.
When you get a Western Field sxs, you don't know for sure what you have without looking it over. Sort of like Sears' Ranger doubles. Western Arms were all Ithaca-made, much like a Nitro Special with a few more corners cut.

I have a pure Nitro Special 20 ga. mfd. in 1926 (I'm told) which is unmarked except for chokes 2 and 4 (mod. & full) on barrel flats. Only markings identifying the gun are Western Field MW&Co. on sides of frame. Without question it is a Nitro Special and not a Western Arms Long Range. Will post a few photos this evening since my son is in from Durango. He is camera literate; I am not. Chopperlump

Western Arms were all Ithaca-made, much like a Nitro Special with a few more corners cut. There's more I forget than remember! The main difference is the frames were malleable iron rather than steel. But were the Ithaca made, Monty Wards Western Fields guns, real Nitro Specials or Western Arms? Do they have the steel frame of the NS or the iron frame of the WA? My Monty looks identical to my NS except for the minor differences noted above.

The frames of the Nitro Specials were forged, milled steel, not maleable iron. You can tell the difference easily by removing buttstock or floor plate and seeing if interior of frame is as cast (maleable)or machined (forged, milled steet.) Also, the WA guns have a slightly different design of top lever and stamped trigger guards. Those were the major shortcuts in manufacture. Another was to tell is by serial #. Chopperlump
