I'm down in Yuma with a friend shooting pigeons over a pig farm... with little ol .410s.

We had a great shoot today and I burned a half a flat. Tomorrow we go to a melon patch to try for more. Really a nice post season shoot.

I'm using my 28ga Parker Repro with the Galazan 410 barrels. Small patterns on these guns

How 'bout some pics, Chuck? Some of these guys aren't gonna believe you can reliably kill something as tough as a feral pigeon with a .410. laugh

Well, I didn't bring a camera but I have this cellphone thingy. I'll get some pix today. My friend had a banner day. He got a true double with his SuperposedRKST 28" .410. He had ddozens of dead birds in his decoy field. I was having trouble getting on the step and shot maybe 30 birds. Many of those fell into pig country and were not retrievable. We discovered using the dead birds as decoys works amazingly well.

Chuck,

You are killing me! While stationed the Marine Corps Air Station Yuma during 89-92 my interests were not in pigeons. I evidently wasted my youth!

Pigeons eh. Great idea Chuck! I'm gonna try and find a concentration of pigeons or maybe bait up some (un-protected) ring-necked doves in close to town somewhere. Our quail season went out Thursday and turkey won't begin till the 24th. Oh what to do in the gap; what to do?...Geo

You should go to this web site "SOAR NO MORE". Those boys put out some great products and videos. You can see them on their web site and on U TUBE.
I live here in central N.C. and wish I had that oppertunity to shoot pigeons like that.

That sounds like a bunch of fun Chuck! Wish we had the numbers around here to do that.

A long gap from the end of Jan chukar and quail hunting to the April 15th turkey opener. Shooting starlings off my back deck with a BB gun doesn't count!

We just had a full moon last week and I saw a couple of fanned out places there last Sunday afternoon, but that could have been specks. I'd think this cold spell will have set'em back a week or two now...Geo
