Wasn't this gun estimated to go in the 350,000.00 range?

Is that $175K for the story and $75K for the gun? Peter Johnson's Parker:TGAS was the collector's book for the serious generation. Those well worn pages, thumbed for 30 years nearly memorized, the Czar's gun, and now somebody's grail comes home. Very cool.

A quarter million dollar bid ...yikes!

Mr Cote's current DGJ (Should hit the door steps this week) has a Story by Capt. James Fender with some more 'Quite Intersting Facts on the Parker A1 spl No 168304) I shot some photos of the event as it 'Happened" "Quite Jolly and all that"(As the 'Brit from Glenthorn Woods might say".It was quite a supprise to have the Young Lady taking Phone bids, start the bidding with the 'SHOUT" 'A QUARTER MILLION DOLLARS'!!!Mr Jeffery Kurtz, Senior Writer for the 'Record-Journal' from Meriden, CT.(www.record-journal.com) was in attendance and has the full story. The 'Group' from the Parker Collectors Assn. had a"Jolly Beanfeast" (as the 'brits would say). There were some very nice Parkers, both Original Condition, and some of Doug Turnbulls 'Best Work' represented. The Purdey 20b pr King Michael or Rommania had built in 1936,that I had been 'Caretaker of for the last few years' are now in the hands of a new Owner.....I say old Bean, Dammed lucky Chappie, hope he has his 'Man'wipe the Proverbial Oily-Rag' over the guns, you know what those'Dammed Colonials'are like, they were allowing them to actualy touch the guns......(All in jest, those Brits have thick skins')Crossedchisles...dt

Will Jack use UPS or USPS? If I were at the auction, I would offer to transport "Nick" and the Romanian Purdeys to Duluth in "Fran's" back seat. "Fran" is my 1974 460 powered wallpaper woodie, very reliable gun transport to MN now that spring is here.

Will DGJ be running a special article titled:

"How Not to Buy a Gun or Any Other Item at Auction"?
(subtitle: How to become a legend for $150,000)

As compared to "Rare & Exceptionally Fine Colt Walker Percussion Revolver $431,250" this "Czar's" Parker is nothing!
The world's going crazy!

Geno, There were 'Several' very Interested Russian Parties' who had wanted to try to take the Parker No168304.(Built for Tsar Nich II 1914) back to Russia, I spoke with Gent prior to the Auction. But "Old Jack took the Wind right out of their Sails"!!So for the time Being, The "Bunch of Old Iron & Wood" is staying in the Land of Its Birth. Have you made any Progress with the "Grand Duke Alexis's" 410 db Lebeau/Matska That I Photographed When I Visited Your City(Then Leningrad)The Russian Gent Didnot belive me when I told him of where it was last seen. The Photo of McIntosh and the Artical in DGJ May 1991 Nearly Convinced Him....If you do get in to the Museum of the Artillery, Engineering Corps.maybe you could see if they still have Purdey No 11,000 12b 32"x 2. 5/8thchambers,1.1/4 oz.proof, Whitworth Bbls.Del Aug 19 1881 to Col Prejevalski. Also Holland&H No 28246. 500-465 DB Rifle??The Matska 410 Would make a Great Story for a follow-up on your and 'The Late Bill Wise' Artical on Matska(Summer95 DGJ) Dan "C" Did'nt think St Petersburg was Ready' for Mcintosh & DT' to do a "Return Visit, after 15 yrs" I have INFO on several other Tsar Weapons that have Passed through my Museum(Of Perpetual Mess)..CC/dt

I was at one of Julia's a few years ago in Portsmouth and saw him sell a Winchester that had been at the little Big Horn for over 600K ! I did get a chance to hold it under the watchfull eye of Portsmouths finest's.Very exciting you could have had a pair of Czars Parkers for that!
