Did anyone else see these guns? Heritage has them coming up in a future auction. The guns where in the fine sporting arms room. For those of you not from Montana, Marcus Daly was the owner/ founder of The Anaconda Copper Company in Butte Montana. The guns in the booth were, a Purdey double, A Charles Daly double and a cased Holland and Holland 30 06. The H&H still had an original luggage tag on the case that read: Marcus Daly Dream Island Polson, Montana. I always find guns with history more interesting.

One of his gun cases was just on Ebay:

Marcus Daly Shotgun Case

What kind of condition were the guns in?

The guns looked to be in nice time capsule condition. They would definitely need to be cleaned since they looked to have been in storage for years but they did not seem to have any rust issues or excessive wear, just dust build up. I bet that case was for the Charles Daly since it was Marcus III's, it looked like the latest gun there, serial about 25000. I have no idea why it was broken up. I think the Purdey, made in the late 1920's (serial in the 23,000 range) and the H&H were Marcus Daly Jr's. He was a big Hunter and died in 1930, of a heart attack, while duck hunting.

note that Copper King Marcus Daly died in 1901. Most, if not all of these guns postdate him. They belonged to his son, Marcus Jr. who was an avid hunter.
