Have recently purchased a Purdey percussion rifle - 2-groove rifling for use with the winged-bullet. Mold #5410 was made for this 1858 rifle and finding same would be wonderful. Slim chance for this. If a member has a .40 cal 2-groove Purdey rifle it would be wonderful to purchase some of their bullets to test fire the gun and to have a sample to have a mold made.A real shot in the dark but what the heck. Kind regards, Dave

Dave I'm sorry I can't help you with either but try nitroexpress.com. You never know.

I believe Lewis Drake used to have a two groove Westley 8 bore rifle as a personal weapon he sold some years back. You might try giving him a call.
PS You could also call John Millar who makes period tools and molds.

A little different approach for needing help. Would any board members have a 40 bore Purdey 2-groove rifle?? If so, could you please give me the winged bullet weight as molded? It is greatly appreciated. Best, Dave

Have a 40 bore winged bullet mold for my 2-groove cased percussion double Trulock & Sons. Diameter measures .488 with the winged diameter of .520. Bullet weights 390gr and is approximately .950" in length. Flat based with a pointed nose. Are you sure your 40 cal is not bore?

Rick W. - thanks very much for your reply. Very similar dimensions as my rifle has a .495 bore and .532 groove. Unsworth book lists this rifle as 40 bore. I see in my first post I note 40 cal. so you are correct in that it is in fact a 40 bore. Again, very much appreciate your reply. Please enjoy the Holiday's! Dave
