This is one of my favorites but sold mine due to poor bore. I'm looking for another one eventually. My question is, what was its period of manufacture? Also, was it ever made in 9.3x74R? Thanks.
With kind regards, Jani

Don't know on the 9.3x74R but I bet there was at least one in 9.3X72R S&S(Sauer), 9X58R or 10X55R. I believe the design was under DRP 78411, http://depatisnet.dpma.de/DepatisNet/dep...7&pdfpage=5 , so it would date to December 1894 or possibly a little earlier. Kind Regards, Raimey rse

Jani If you find one said to be 9.3x74R, but doesn't have the case length(74) on the barrel, be very careful. Some of the 9.3x72R S&S rifles will chamber 9,3x74R ammo, but this elevates the chamber pressure. Mike

Or like mine is marked, "74 1/2" and it is not the 9.3 X 74R. Only safe way to be is make a chamber cast and measure it.

Yeah, chamber cast is best but I'm still perplexed why a 1/2 increment length was stamped like 74 1/2. There must have been some confusion in the submission of the intended cartridge. You see the 1/2 on some chamberings like:
6.5X48 1/2 R 6.5X58 1/2 R 8.15x46 1/2 R 8X48 1/2 R S&S 8x58 1/2 R S&S 8x74 1/2 9X58 1/2 R S&S 9.3X74 1/2 R
And I'm sure there are several others.
Kind Regards,
