Hi all,

Was wondering if Westley Richards ever made a 10-Bore Paradox gun? I know they had the 12-Bore Explora, the 20 and 28-Bore Faunetas, and the 8-Bore bullet and shot with the invisible rifling, but was there ever a 10-Bore rifled choke or invisibly rifled gun made by them? Seems as though they had everything covered but the 10.

There is also at least one WR 8 bore rifled choke Explora, a droplock.
This is JMO, but Westley, entered the ball and shot market in earnest after 1900. They designed an ammo system around their rifled choke guns touting them as shooting farther and harder than other ball and shot guns including and especially the Holland Paradox. The 12 bore Super Magnum Explora cartridge has a muzzle energy equal to a 300gr 375HH magnum and approching the 8 dram Holland 10 bore paradox cartridge. They believed they didn't need a 10 bore as the 12 bore SME had it covered in true combo gun 5 lbs lighter than a 10 bore paradox. There might be a 10 out there but it would be rare. Whe Roger Lake's volume II comes out it may shed more light on the subject.

I had a feeling that they wouldn't have made a 10-Bore because of the 12-Bore Super Magnum Explora. Very interesting about the 8-Bore Explora. Was this a nitro or blackpowder gun? Probably blackpowder, but just curious. Also would you happen to know when Roger Lake will come out with volume II? Volume I was awesome and I am eagerly awaiting volume II.

Also Leslie Taylor of WR once theorized that 1800fps could be achieved by a rifled choke gun. If he had been able to create that cartridge in a 12 it would have had the same ballistics as the Holland 8 dram 10 bore.

having shot a 12 bore rifle choked gun at 1500fps, I have zero interest in one at 1800fps. Ouch!
