I recently traded for a drilling in 9.3X72R. It is a relatively late gun with 9.3X73R Norm. marked on the bottom of the rifle barrel. I know from recent reading that the 9.3X72R Normal cartridge was developed as a cartridge that previous proprietary 9.3X72Rs could be rechambered to. Fortunately I had a drilling in this caliber 20 years ago and kept the ammo, as I figured I'd get another gun in this caliber some day. I have two boxes of RWS factory ammo and 30 RWS 193 grain bullets identical to the factory loading. From what I can learn, RWS doesn't sell these bullets any more. Can anyone suggest a source of .364 diameter flat-nosed bullets in this weight that I can use for reloading? Is there a factory duplication load available? Thanks for the help.

Try Hawk Precision Bullets. http://www.hawkbullets.com/ They make a 200 grain, which should do what you're looking to do.

Vol423, Z&B still makes this bullet( although I've heard in .366), but I'm not sure of the avalibility of bullets in the US. Z&B ammo is avaliable. This bullet is especially adapted for use in barrels with varying diameters, so don't worry that it is .366"dia,(if it is).Cast bullets would liberate you from dependence on other people. There are also manufactures that make "soft",about 200 gr., bullets for the 9.3x72R.These bullets are not the "express"style for differing barrel diameters, but can be sized to the diameter you need.If the bullet will not enter an unsized, but fired in the same chamber, case it should be resized. If you decide to use cast bullets, you would still have the 50 RWS bullets for hunting, which would last a long time. There is a three part article on loading 9.3x72R in "WAIDMANNSHEIL" from a couple years back.If you are not already a member,it would be good to join the German Gun Collectors Assn. Mike

S&B lists the 193 grain .366" bullet on their web site. I e-mailed them yesterday inquiring about an American retailer who stocks them and have received as yet no answer. I will pass it on, if and when it arrives.

I received the following reply from my inquiry today.
Dear Mr. Warren,
Thank you for your inquiry.
However I have to inform you, that we don't sell components on the U.S. market.
We tried several years ago with absolutely no success. Lack of free capacities further prohibits us in trying.
Kind regards,

I'll second the recommendation of the use of the 200 grain Hawk bullets. I use them in many calibers and grain weights. http://www.hawkbullets.com/Pricelist.htmBuchseman

The Hensley&Gibbs #512c is deadly on Whitetail.Hard to find mold blocks though. This is a 210gr blunt nose bullet. Mike

My problem is not finding a bullet to shoot: it is finding a bullet which will shoot to the point of aim of the non-adjustable pop-up sights on my 1925 Krieghoff drilling. So far, I have come up with several loads which shoot nice tight groups, but at 10:00 o'clock on the target. I would much prefer not to have to use Kentucky windage/elevation.

Xausa, New England Custom Guns has Recknagle(?) parts and more than likely can get you a new rear sight leaf. Install new leaf and file to sightin. You can save old leaf.Be sure to remove the rod that stands the leaf up, before drifting the pin out. The rod will be held in by the little screw under the doll's head. You could gain a little on the windage by filing the original notch some.If this is enough windage, then NECG could supply a new front sight. Whether to work the front or rear sight would be a "coin toss".

xausa, Didn't see that one coming. I was thinking that you may have been hung up on the flatnose thing. If you're not familiar with drillings and do not have the mechanical skills or equipment/tools to address the sight issue on your own it's best to send your drilling to the likes of NECG. If you are able to do your own work then NECG, as per Der Ami, is a good place to go for parts.
