Michael, I see your using the same custom rear bag elevator that I use!!! Mine is equipped with four wood screws that penetrate the board about an 1/8" to prevent moving on the wooden bench top!! Great, I'll look forward to see how they shoot. If you need something to shoot for in the accuracy department I can drag this out.
Niedner barrel,30-06, 20X Unertl, armory stock reworked by J.V. Howe. Ring it out and show us the results!! Or send it to Oklahoma and I'll do the "dirty work" !!!!!!!!!!

I've been looking on ebay for spotting scopes, but don't see that model that you mentioned above...SR 60?
That looks awfully "woodsy" there...do you bring a big rifle for the bears even on days that you shoot .22? I can see a big brownie sticking his nose into your business, coming by for a cup of coffee. I'm not sure of the right name and model I call them Bausch & Lomb Balscope SR 20X. keep your eye on eBay they come up all the time. I don't worry about bears I worry about folks with loaded guns so I try to stay away from the range when it's open to the public. It's hard to consecrate with .223 brass raining down on you.

This rife was rung out before I was born. The throat is washed out but still shoots better then I do. I use it to test ammo, test sights and scopes.

S.R. Griffin and a pleasure to shoot, fits me well. The front sight is so thin I had to use a 6 O:Clock hold. Remember, hunt with a fouled rifle.

Michael,
Looks like the white target on a black board works pretty well for you! I've never tried that.

Here is what it looks like. Try a paper plate at different distances when using a round bead front sight until you have a nice circle of white around the sight. This works even with a ivory bead. Those two white looking things on the back stop were two pieces of a bowling ball someone had left there. I shot about twenty rounds through the Griffin and made small pieces. So would any of you use these rifle for hunting?

Michael,
I have been admiring your rifles and following the thread with great interest, they're very nice.
Yes, I would certainly hunt with rifles such as yours. In recent years I have been using vintage German double rifles for boar hunting and this fall I plan to use my Brenneke (E. Schmidt & Habermann - ESHA - w/ Oberndorf Mauser receiver, 28" Bohler Antinit barrel and Ajack 3X scope) 7X64 Brenneke on an antelope hunt in Wyoming. Of course one should be as careful as possible not to damage them but I would think most would avoid being careless with any gun.
Regards,
Buchseman

I would use any of them for hunting but keep in mind, that my hunting style would be very easy on the rifles i.e. I don't have to climb any mountains or wade any streams.. set up adjacent to a bean field and wait.

I too would certainly take any of those rifles afield. Then again I'm a 'low impact' kind of hunter anymore- no more extreme bushwhacking, mountain climbing, or river wading. The rifles I've hunted with for the last decade don't have so much as a scratch from their time in the woods, unlike the guns I carried when I was young and full of beans.
So, if a bunch of us showed up on your doorstep and needed outfitting for a foray in search of moose (meese?) and bears... Ha ha!
