Unless you're tied to a bolt my daughter's early production Ruger No. 3 Carbine IN .22 Hornet, I bought at a Montana farm auction for $330 complete with Redfield [U.S.A. Mfg.]3x9 scope does the job for her and shoots like a house afire. I had been looking for a nice used .222 Rem. for years, when 3 months ago I looked on the website of one of the oldest prestigious gun firms and there, lo and behold was a 1965 Mfg REMINGTON 700 BDL. Now my taste have never run to the bowling pin finish and the impressed checkering and whiteline spacers. However it looked just like it just came out of the Remington factory, topped off with an El Paso Weaver V10 WITH ADJ OBJ. Now if that wasn't enough the price was $475. I broke my arm dialing the phone and yes, it was still there! As the gent was taking my credit card info I joked about the price and said "can't you do better, it is after all almost 50 years old" he responded "yeah! I'll do $435" and I PASSED OUT RIGHT THEN AND THERE! When it arrived it looked better than the pictures showed, if that's possible...maybe unfired. I had purchased some PRIVI PARTISAN AMMO from from Sportsman Guide in SP bullet to get a supply of brass while the gun was in transit. The AMMO WAS 8.99 A BOX. I laser collimnated the rifle and after a few shots and clicks, the first serious group of 5 was .331 @100yds. The best of the day .221 the worst[my fault] .770 Now if I can just get it restocked, but then the way it shoots........... Jerry
