Pete do you know if Michel knows about the Pieper Damascus that had been blued that the member on here found last year? The only other one I am aware of was the one pictured in the DGJ about 8 years ago. Does he mention those Pieper woven barrels in his book?
James I am not sure if he knows, which is why I asked that you mention it to him. One is a freak, but 2 suggests to me something else was going on. Pete

Pete, are those pics of the sidelock from your files or a gun you have? Looks a lot like one that was at auction at Rock Island a couple years ago.
Just saw some pics of a boxlock that is the same action as the one I posted above but is mid way between the one above and the next lower grade I have. Haven't seen the engraving pattern before. It has the basket-weave chequering like mine should have and the sidelock you posted, it has the drop points like the sidelock, but unlike mine and the engraving is rose and scroll. It's a 12 gauge and missing the forend so if anyone knows of a potential parts gun, please drop me a line. Put back together it might be a lovely Pieper.

Canvasback; Here are the two 16 gauges; 1925 Pieper's name isn't on it; demi-block This 16 hammer maybe between 1898-24, but I believe 1910-24

2 holer, I think you'll find Pieper's name on the hammer-less ahead of the Bayard horseman. I have one very similar....no engraving on the action except on the screw heads and the ends of the barrel lumps?
Your barrel inscription is in French, mine's in English. My two 16's serial numbers are just 3 numbers apart, 35XX. Is that close to yours?

You are correct on the name ahead of the horseman; don't know how I missed that. But, I've been know to look right at something and not see it; just ask my wife.
The hammerless has a five digit number and the hammer is 42xx.
