Thanks Mike. I saw those but I want my barrels to be over 23 inches when done.

This topic brought the idea to me of changing one of my shotguns to a double rifle for larger game (elk, bear, caribou).

I'm asking for opinions on converting either an O/U or SxS to a double rifle. I've not seen and O/U as a double rifle, so is this an option or not a wise idea?

What are the issues to look for when doing this?

Who is qualified to make this conversion?

Thanks for the help. I've learn A LOT from this forum and the books recommended by it.

Many shotgun actions are not strong enough to handle rifle pressures.
Unless you can do the work yourself it's generally cheaper to find a good used rifle. Or think about an new Chapuis 9.3X74R for around $4500. The Sabatti's are another option but there have been problems with their regulation processes.

Mike,
How long do you need your finished barrel to be? These will finish out as stub barrels for sleeving at around 23 3/4 inches. I also have a line on some longer barrels but haven't bought any of them yet. Send me a P.M. and tell me what you want and I'll see if I can help you out. Bob
