Adding to the discussion with sharps4590 regarding German double rifles chambered for the .43 Mauser cartridge, here is another example:

This gun is proofed "Nitro" using a 18 gr (278 grain) K.m.G. (Kupfer Mantel Geschoss - Copper Jacketed Bullet). The barrel length is 26 1/16” (66.2 cm).

Steve,

The gun is all original. I had been on the track of this one for at least seven years, since my father just missed it at a show in MI. At the time the gun was thought to have been unfired! I located the dealer and let him know that when the day came where he was ready to let it go that I'd buy it, and so it was. If I'm recalling correctly the dealer had shot several whitetail and one black bear with it prior to releasing it to me.

Yep, same cartridge used in the Mauser Model 71 (1871). Many German combination guns were chambered in this cartridge as well.
