I recently got this gun and have found out little about it. Its a percussion rifle that breaks down into a pistol. I took it to a gunsmith and the only markings on the gun were inside the lock, the letter "K" and possibly the letter xr or a crown above the "K". The gunsmith also said he thinks it may be from the Pennsilvania area and early to pre-civil war. He also said it appears all original and was actually designed to be both a longarm and able to convert to be used as a pistol. Here are some pics of the gun, if anybody has any ideas about it please let me know.

the takedown feature reminds me of so called english 'poachers' guns, designed to be concealed before and after use.
