Dave, he worked me in between other jobs for which I am grateful. I'm happy to get the gun back for the remainder of quail and snipe seasons. Gil

My Ilsley receiver was delivered today by UPS and I can't detect any repair. If it weren't for the memory of it breaking and the photos I took, I would swear it wasn't broken. Mark did a great job and I am grateful for it's safe, prompt return. I can't decide whether it's quail or snipe tomorrow, but it will be one or the other. Gil

Pheww! What a relief. He really did a nice job.
And what a strange thing to have happened.
I've thrown my gun to the side automatically whenever I've tripped on a root or vine while hunting. Instantaneously as I feel myself going flat to the ground I jettison the gun to the side.
Most times I'm in the woods, too, so there are trees and stumps and all manner of growing things. Nothing has ever happened, not even a scratch or dent.
And then something like this happens. A simple fall a few feet to the grass. Must have been the angle it hit(?)

Did the repair include imbedding pins or similar in the stock for strength ?

Daryl, This is what he did in his words: "The angle of the break into the head of the stock didn't allow for full length steel rods as I'd hoped, but I was able to use hidden brass screws (I like to cut the heads off and slot the shank so I can countersink a bit. I prefer them to pins cut off at the surface)." Gil
