Some may remember that I had a thread on a Webley/Henry that I cobbled up.

I decided to get more adventuresome and go bigger - cartridge not decided but at least .40
So..

Got a block of 4140, and had a square hole drilled...uh... EDM cut.

Pictures of the action starting to get roughed out.

Bottom plate, lever, link, and block started

More to follow as I keep at it.
Enjoy.

Not much in regard to long guns, except requirement to be registered.
If the long gun registry gets (hopefully) repealed, then even less for long guns - if not done for commercial sale.
Usual rules on barrel and overall length and mag capacity.

The weather here is rather crappy at present, although this winter has been a near miracle, warm and very little snow - too little in fact. Walking is made difficult by the frozen tears of the snowmobilers.......

Got a bit more done.
Added the bottom tang, threaded for a barrel, cut away some metal that didn't belong...

Other side, fake barrel stub, tapered off the breech block.

From the back, hole in the barrel stub is 1/4" to locate the firing pin hole location.

Enjoy!

Hoot, mon, a Henry must have a left sidelock...hm..can't find one, well, make one I guess.
So, some parts.

Inside of lockplate, tumbler, and sear

Outside of plate, milled off for the dogleg.

More when some done.

oldstarfire,

The link below will take you to a company selling Henry lock sets. Don't know anything about the quality and probably not as "fun" as making your own.

Thanks for the link - interesting stuff.
But yes, making it is part of the challenge.

Henry also made right handed locks. Mine is! It also has a stalking safety.

Yup, my brother had a lovely one, originally .460, sleeved to .410 shotgun (sob).
But the left lock is cool(er?)

Got a little done on the lock.

And a little on the action - the hole is for the extractor, and the other for the lock, cutaway for the lockwork.

Will be away for a few days, so no more for a while.
