Does anyone know where I can obtain information on the Merkel Freres from 1969? It has all the Suhl marks, no GDR stamp and a St. Etienne mark confused .

thanks Doug

I would start by sending its serial number to Merkel Suhl.

With kind regards,

I would also consider ordering a Merkel Freres catalog reprint from Cornell Publications.

Merkel Freres is just a French advert for Gebrüder Merkel or Brothers Merkel. Just a little addition to Jani's catalogue lead: http://www.cornellpubs.com/old-guns/item_desc.php?item_id=1317

By sending serial number to Merkel Suhl (as suggested above). Or by posting photos here.

If you have an O/U with ejectors and modest scroll engraving, it's model 200E, probaby the most common Merkel configuration. If not, please describe it (or post pictures).

With kind regards,
Jani
