I just ordered and received Galazan's canvas/leather gun slip. I am impressed by the rapid service and overall workmanship but I am concerned that the lining of the canvas slip is pretty rough and feels abrasive. I cannot see into the bottom where the leather end is so don't know what's down there but but all of my shotguns have oiled stocks and lining seems very aggressive.

Before ordering I telephoned them and was assured it had a "soft" lining - not the canvas itself - but this is is far from soft.

Does anyone have experience with this slip?

It's nice and lightweight but I'm concerned it will abrade my barrels and stock.

I'm thinking of returning it and would appreciate an feedback from someone who owns one.

Thank you

I have no experience with those, but Galco has 4 variations from under $100 to way up there. All are fleece lined.

I have one and have used it a modest amount in the field (10-12 times), without noticing any adverse effects on the stock of my RBL.

Such a long, long time to be gone, and a short time to be there.

I have one and am very satisfied. The lining is bonded to the outer canvas shell giving the impression that the lining may have an abrasive affect but if you run the lining across a sensitive part of your body (preferably you cheek)you will find the lining to be soft and non-abrasive.

I bought one sent it back and got inexpensive slips from Bob Allen. Nothing reply wrong with the Galazan just didn't look like it had the padding I wanted

A slip is not meant to provide protection from hard knocks. It is not padded and is only a light service cover against moisture, dust, dirt and handling.

Thank y ou for the input. Yes, I know a slip is just a slip and not meant to be a protector from hard knocks.

Twice, I took your advice and rubbed the liner against my cheek and it (the liner) is sufficiently coarse that I don't want it rubbing against my guns when I'm walking them to the field.

I't a nicely made, lightweight item but I sent it back.

Gnomon,
Everyone I've seen with a Galco slip or the now discontinued full zipper case, was thrilled with their product.

Chuck, the slip looked very nice but as TwiceBarrel wrote, the lining is bonded to the canvas. It did not seem (to me) to offer any protection from the canvas texture.

I would like to find a lightweight slip that has a soft liner.

Gnomon,
Please note: I stated GALCO not Galazan. All the GALCO slips are fleece lined.
