It's wonderful to hear the barrels have passed. This is going to be a beauty when it's done.

...

Boxing Day shoots. ... When I was a kid growing up in Pennsylvania, the small game seasons closed the Saturday after Thanksgiving (the 4th Thursday in November). Deer season began the following Monday and ran for a couple weeks. Small game didn't reopen until December 26, then ran a month or so.

I always liked those post-Christmas hunts. There were no crowds and one could hunt all day. There wasn't a lot of game, or not as much as there had been. But it was nice. And if the weather was cold and the gamebag empty, one could still come home at the end of the day to a hot bowl of soup.

And, being able to take hunting the very next day the new gun that often appeared under the Christmas tree was very appealing to those lucky enough to get such a present.

Sounds like fun is in store by you, Tony.

Hi guys, just put the telephone down to Purdey. What a lovely bunch of people. Chap in the gun room told me that the gun was made in 1872 for a RH Vesey ESQ, centre fire 12 bore top lever. It would have been at the 314 1/2 address..

Now...if only to find a label...search on..
