It could have been me. It's got double triggers, and they both went off at about the same time, but with enough of a delay so it wasn't instentanous. I'm thinking my finger must have slipped to the rear trigger.

I shot the same gun 75 times today, without a problem. I'm assuming it's a one time thing.

Any opinions? Could it be a true double? Sure took me by surprise.

Nothing gets your attention like a light 12 load turning into a mag 10. Make sure the triggers are clean and don't use teflon on the trigger assembly. I had a Browning Super that doubled if the trigger assembly was lubed with Triflow. I was glad it was a 28 when it happened.

Not left handed. I can't explain it other than my finger accidently hitting the back trigger.

Could'a been something as simple as a small piece of powder residue or other grit that prevented the sear from seating in the notch. Recoil could easily kick it off.

Watched Tony Makris get the pounding of his lifetime when his 600 NE doubled on him while taking a bull elephant on his TV show. It happened b/c he pulled the rear trigger purposefully to fire his left bbl which was printing a bit better than the right. The recoil of the 900 gr bullet apparently caused the right hammer to drop. Amazing amount of recoil he took from a 15 lb gun...

Hard to get a "true" double with a DT gun by slipping from the front trigger to the back. More likely, as suggested above, there's a sear issue (might be temporary, dirt or whatever) and the recoil caused your L barrel to fire.

If it has intercepting sears then it most likely was the result of you pulling both triggers.

Have you measured the trigger pull on the front and rear trigger?

The rear trigger should be a bit greater, say by about a half-pound.

The price you pay for double trigger 'reliability' is having both triggers sitting on the sears at the same time.

The advantage of an inertia blocked or inertia shift single trigger is obvious, although they can and do fail in other ways.

It's just a machine.
