Hi folks,

I've completed the Greener. I was about to put photos up and then thought better of it. I guess it's how I feel about the forums at the moment.

I've never professed to being a top gunsmith and frequently get things wrong. But for the first time I actually don't feel like there is any value in my putting up the pictures. There are a couple things blacked that shouldn't be. The stock is exhibition finish, because I like seeing wood that way, easily matted down, but again not in keeping with how the gun would have been finished.

These things are what I enjoy about restoring a gun. Trying at best to, in my compromised sort of way, bring a tired gun back to how I like to think they might have looked. Save the above.

Anyway, I'll post images on my blog and if people care to look a bit later on tonight they'll be there.

Cheers

T

Tony, Wrong thinking. Photos are the joy of this forum. Seems we've hit a gravel road with the current dialog, but it will level out in time and the dust will clear. Most of us are hanging around here for the love of vintage firearms and the sharing of such with copy and photos. The workmanship of our ancestors on our treasured guns is the glue that binds this eclectic group together. Any photo contribution of work done by our members is a highlight of any post. Don't back out on us now. You are doing great work as are many of our members do and we need to encourage everyone to make a contribution. My opinion, Randy

TONY, Tony
How do you expect me to sleep tonight
You restorations are so lovely, that I like to dwell on them.

Please post some pictures and forgive those who farted in public.

Mike

Tony;
I read this forum several times a day when not at work....but don't post very often. Guess I'm one o them "lurkers". Just like you to know how much I enjoy your pictures, and your writings of your projects. As a wannabe who tinkers with old guns, I think we are all in pretty fast company around here what with the likes of SDH, Crossed Chisles and the others who will take the time to return E mails and answer rookie questions. Have learned much from them as well as from yourself.
Gonna hang my ass out in the breeze here and say that you should post all the pix you like. I for one, look forward to them.
Hoping this finds you and yours well;
Respectfully
Kraft

I'm feeling a bit embarresed and stupid now. Of course I'll post them. Need a cup of tea before I take some of them though because I've been baby sitting most of the day and I'm knackered! Now I know why the wife get's so tired...she's amazing...will post some in a bit...and thanks for the comments...touched actually.

A few dOuches shouldn't ruin our gun porn! Your work is an inspiration to me. I just started working on old LC Smith's, and seeing what you accomplish in a home shop is amazing.

+1, Hoof.

Seriously, Tony - don't let some comments get you down.

In any event, I think it's that the hunting seasons here stateside haven't opened yet and it's still to early for the kind of gear preparation that goes on the week prior. So, everyone's antsy and wound up, all with no place to go Another 3 weeks or a month, and we'll all be sharing new hunting stories and pictures and be back to our normal, nice folks.

Tony, your blog is a wonderful chronicle of your efforts and has in part, resurrected my interest in an old project of my own.

9 years ago or so, I began getting headaches from reading this and other bbs'. It took a while to figure out what the problem was. With the help my girlfriend at the time we discovered.... I was rolling my eyes so much and so frequently at all the "proper" this, "correct" that, and all the drippy crap in-between that my eye rolling was causing the headaches. A change in careers and hunting patterns about the same time made it easy to leave all the double gun boards behind.

I don't notice many of the "old gang" here any longer I'm sure some have died but, suspect as many have just grown weary of all the "expertness" that gets thrown about like rose petals at a wedding every time a picture is posted or a fix is proposed.

It takes some stones to put an action a furnace or take a file to a set of 100 year old barrels. The difference between you and most on this site is you've done both while they've only read about it. Don't give their words any weight.

Jim
