I agree with Mr. Toraballa. I have bought 3 guns from Mr. McCabe. Once we had struck a deal I was pleased with all 3 and the price I paid for them. I often find that in guns like many things, a person's estimation of what is an expensive price is often in inverse proportion to their ability to pay it...Willoughby-McCabe is a good company to deal with,IMHO.

I would be pleased to know the individual who fitted the leather covered recoil pad to the WC Scott Premier at Osprey Arms in the USA. I have not seen such excellent work in leather covering a recoil pad in UK. By the way that is a very lovely Scott Premier, the likes of such is rarely found today--If the internals of the gun are as the exterior. BV

I must admit that I enjoy the displays that W-M have put on at shows where I have met them.

If you don't ask you don't get. I'm sure people are free to haggle if they don't agree with the price. Steve Seems every hammer gun they have listed is either a pigeon or a best gun And most all are so over priced I wouldn't bother insulting their intelligence or mine by making them an offer.

I'm not much of a haggler but back in 2001 I found a 12 gauge Parker VH for sale for $1200 at a big sporting goods store just off I-80 in Iowa. I made an offer of $700 and they took it so quick that I kicked myself for not offering less. Like I said earlier, if you don't ask you don't get. BTW I used the gun every year until 2006 when I sold it for $1000 to a friend who had it restored to like new condition. I only sold it because I'd developed a liking for super light weight guns and at 7.5lbs the Parker was just too darn heavy. Steve

McCabe is a good buddy of mine. I dont need to take up for him etc. because he's a big boy. Bought guns from him and he's helped me in buying stuff for my collection. Recently I went to Africa and he regulated a Cogswell 475 Nitro for me that I was using. Great service and all out good guy. That being said each dealer got his own prices and if folks dont like it then they dont buy it etc. I'm the same way so I get it.

I know and have dealt with Patrick - if you make an offer he is polite and will entertain it or not. If you don't like his price don't buy the gun. It is as simple as that.
He is an honest and fair dealer and stands behind his guns and that is worth a buck or two.
Mine's a tale that can't be told, my freedom I hold dear.

As I stated earlier, I have bought two guns from Patrick at rather good prices. Their prices were reasonable and I made a polite but lower offer. After some enjoyable conversation he accepted my offers.
Like many high end gun dealers, W-M's prices start high testing the market. If one watches they should learn when a dealer might be ready to sell an over priced gun at a reasonable price. There are other dealers who almost never will flinch on their prices.

Regarding the Scott Premier at Osprey,I owned that gun a dozen years ago when it still had the original horn buttplate. It was part of a twofer I obtained from a gentleman in Baltimore, the other gun being an Imperial Premier. I always wondered about DuBray and his ownership of that Scott. Its manufacture dated to about the same time he began his employment with Parker Brothers.I guess it had to go,as he couldn't be seen with another brand besides Parker.Curious. Regards, Marcus

I'm sure McCabe is a great guy...but like I said his hammer guns are way the hell over priced. I went and gave them a gander this morning and the very first gun I looked at is over priced by at least 3 grand and I'm not talking big a money gun.
Quote : " Webley & Sons 10 Gauge Hammergun Webley & Sons 10 Gauge Hammergun. The sidelock action of this gun is slightly loose and has full coverage engraving. The 30" barrels are Damascus with 2 3/4" ghambers and show some pitting. The bores measure: .770/.768 and are choked cylinder/cylinder. The pistol grip/ splinter stock displays very sharp, fine line checkering with great contrast in the grain and a satin finish. The lop is 14 1/16" to an original metal buttplate with 3 1/4"dah and 2"dac. 8lbs 10oz. Floor $4,500.00"
