Good luck Chuck!!

I've been through the gall bladder thing and it's no fun.

As far as the wood goes, I think it's nice, just terrible layout.

It's been my experience that a "1" in just about any category a guy would be interested in can quickly rise to a "10" based upon the morphine dosage!! grin

Chuck: Don't fret too much. The gall bag is a surgeon's bread and butter and no big deal in this day and age. BTW, as you know, I'm becoming an addict of this forum too. HaHa. Seriously, I've had a lot of fun and have learned a lot here on the Double G forum. Get well soon! Buzz

Hmmmm, gastro, eh? Does pureed yellow pepper and spicy southwestern hot wings ring a bell? grin

Hope it's something easily treated.

I think the wood is beautiful, just not on a gun stock. It would make a great looking table, for example. Or a fly tying desk. Grain is wrong, as everyone else has said, and it's just a bit (or not just a bit) too gaudy. However if it had a lot more dark figure in it, a feather or something, it would look great. I think. But there's still the problem in the wrist.

I don't particularly care for the figure in that piece of wood, but disagree with some earlier posters who say the grain runs wrong. I can see evidence that the grain runs straight through the wrist. The mineral streaking running up and down usually has nothing to do with which way the grain runs. Many blanks exhibit figure that is ninety degrees off from the grain. Curly maple, for example, has "stripes" that run up and down, perpendicular to the axis of the bore, when laid out properly.

Beat me to it, Stan. Figure often has no relation to flow. As to "appropriateness" of a particular blank to a double gun- well, I guess that rule book is missing from my library.
