That would explain it.

I heard that Marlin changed the threads on the 336 when they chambered it for higher pressure rounds and I wonder if thats how they solved their problem. I measured a regular 336 at .775 and they saved metal (and probably some stress) by using acme threads.

Whether it handles the higher cup or not, I always thought that the cadet was a neat little rifle.
