I have a Belgian 16 Ga SxS hammer gun marked with Crown over L.S for Leruitte & Smeets of Liege. What little I can find on Leriutte and Smeets only concerns revolvers. Would anyone know where I could find further information on Leriutte or Leruite & Smeets and their shotguns?

Mme Clementine Leruitte rue Duvivier 16, Liege 1854-1869. 1869-1883 Mme Veuve Leruitte. 1883-1892 Leruitte-Smeets. 1892-1909 Mme Veuve Leruitte. In 1885 registered the mark LS with a crown. 1910-1911 Leruitte brothers.

This is relatively unknown maker. It is one of the few firms run by a woman. While common, it was not unknown in the Belgian gun trade.

So according to the trademark, the gun was made between 1885-1892.

"Veuve" means widow. Wonder if she took over the business after husband's death.
