I'm partial to LC Smith and the Remington Mdl 32, but that only means they are the best for me.

Odd that no one mentions Old Reliable....the Parker. I'm kind of fond of them too. If they aren't worn out and off face the actions are really smooth and nice. I esp like a 20 ga on an 0 Frame. Also, beautiful engraving in higher grades.

Historically the Parker, LC Smith and Lefever were there in the 1800's and early 1900's fighting it out with the world in international trap competitions.
I prefer the LC Smith out of those three because according to the great posts by Mr Hause, the Smith won the most of these competitions.

Indeed, after Fred Gilbert won the First DuPont Grand Smokeless Championship Handicap Live-bird Tournament in 1895 until the Remington and Winchester pumps and SBTs took over, Smith guns were tops at the traps. Fred went to a Parker after the 1899 GAH

Most of the June 1901 Anglo-American Clay Bird Match team used Parkers. Smiths went 1-2-3 at the last GAH at Live Birds in 1902 in KC but by about 1905, more of the big dogs were using Parkers

Again, another poorly designed question on my part. I should have asked 'and why do you think they are the best'?? I realize this is a controversial and subjective issue, but I think there are strong and weak points about all of these guns and this is what is fun and informative to talk about in my humble opinion.

OK my bad too so here's my testimonial why I like old Remingtons. I started hunting with my Dad's 10 bore model 1889 and my Uncle gave me his model 1900 12 bore when I was a kid. Neither one are engraved. Both have damascus barrels that have stood the test of time so I guess they were built rather strong in those days to take heavy hunting loads. I don't use those loads anymore but the guns are every bit as tight and the barrels ring true as when I started hunting 40 years ago. Now that I'm on the downhill side to 60 years old (55 actually) I use RST loads and stop to smell the roses when I hunt. I also have an Ithaca, model 24 Winchester fence post, and an imported something or other from Brazil double but when I want quality time in the field I'll take my Remingtons anyday.

Although I already voted Uncle Dan, I must say the old Remingtons are really well built. My 8.5lb 32" 1894 is built like a tank, and smacks targets farther than I should be shooting at them. It has very thick, broad shoulders too, much like Parkers in that regard. I love the sharp "clunk" it makes on closing too. Impressive.
