So, should I apply the grease with a grease gun like you find at a garage?
Also, how much faster will the shot go when you use grease?
I think gjw is pulling your legs. (Unless he wants to end up with an "overbored" barrel). JC Oh no, now why would I do that?

Perhaps because when you read ridiculous threads like this you become bored. With grease in the barrels or any obstruction you will soon relieve your boredom and have other more serious things to think about.

When the Alcan Co of Alton IL was still supplying reloading components they listed their fiber wads as being "Ring Waxed". I believe they used a process where the wads were rolled through a shallow pan of melted wax, only applying it to the outer edges. This put the wax where it was needed but also kept down the weight of the wad by not totally saturating it.
A 50/50 mix of Beeswax & Mutton Tallow is reported to be an extremely good lubricant for anything Black Powder related; wads, patches or grooved bullets.

Once upon a time, I was in the middle of resizing and lubing some .45 cast bullets and I ran out of Rooster Red Wax; however I had on hand a couple of wax rings that are used to seat a toilet.
Any of y'all that have installed or R&R'd a Porcelain Throne know what I am talking about.
Well that stuff was the Sh!t ! Worked as well as any Cast Bullet lube I have ever used.

For true authenticity, I would suggest bear grease. If that's not available you can substitute bacon fat or lard.
