Anyone try the new Federal Safari ammo? Two loads are "Lead Free" with Barnes bullets. Are these okay to shoot in a SXS Chapuis double rifle? I live in CA and would like to find factory loads that I can use in the lead-free zones out here!
If so, would you prefer the Barnes® Triple-Shock® X Bullet® OR the Barnes® Banded Solid™ option? Mostly used on wild boar, but want something all around use including elk and moose and bear. Thanks!
No, most will prefer .375 rim-less nitro express Holland or dare I say Ruger. Bolt action firearms and ammunition are much less expensive and accurate too. Those utilizing Mauser system (cf feed/EXTRACTION) will stand up to grain of sand better then any SxS. Ruger also offers very affordable compact rifle in 9,3x62 which uses same diameter bullets like 9,3x74 but is higher performance because rimless ammo for bolt guns is loaded to higher pressure. I hope that helps.
